Salvia madrensis (1 qt) | Forsythia Sage (1 qt)

This plant grows up to 7 feet in one year, on some warm days you can almost watch it grow!  Prune it early in spring and summer for height control. In high wind areas plant near a fence or house to protect the large, slightly brittle stems. Big green heart shaped leaves are lovely, and long inflorescences are covered with softly colored, butter yellow flowers in the fall. The square stems grow to be up to 4 inches wide at the base! Leaves are lightly fragrant.  Blooms August through frost. Good specimen plant. Excellent cut flower. Unusual flower color for a sage.
