Salvia buchananii (1 qt) | Buchanan Sage (1 qt)

Unknown origin, but probably native to Mexico. It is a shrubby perennial, growing in a rounded mound 1 to 2 feet tall. Leaves are glossy dark green. In mild climates this species will bloom sporadically all year, otherwise heaviest bloom is from mid-summer through fall. Flowers are a shocking magenta. Buchanan sage needs some afternoon shade if grown in hot locations. It is definitely frost tender, so grow in containers and protect from hard frosts. Branches are a bit brittle, so do not plant near high traffic areas.
