Patchouli is an easy plant to grow, but usually not winter hardy in most climates. It is an excellent houseplant, doing well in low light. Dark green leaves have that '60's hippie musky scent, although much more subdued than the essential oil, and small spikes of white flowers. Leaves and flowers can be used to infuse oil. Patchouli does have insect problems, with scale, aphids white fly and spider mite attacks common on houseplants. Native to Malaysia. Grows to 18 inches. Plant in containers in afternoon shade. Do not overwater.
