This is the best plant for a sweet lemon grass tea, heavy in scent and flavor, and very sweet. It doesn't produce actually produce a fleshy bulb, so for cooking it is more difficult to use, but it is the preferred variety for essential oil. It is very frost tender, so be sure to harvest it to the ground by early fall. It can be dried to enjoy during the winter months. Keep in a warm greenhouse if you plan to overwinter it. This makes a terrific sorbet or ice cream flavor.
